Analysis & Insights Manager

Location: Glasgow

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

We are currently looking for an Analysis & Insights Manager to join our Analysis & Insights (A&I) Team. The A&I Team supports the business through conducting economic and financial analysis for research and industry-facing projects and providing thought leadership. The main purpose of the role will be to identify and drive the delivery of economic modelling and other analysis requirements to meet business needs for forward-looking industry thought leadership; and robust analysis for externally and internally-funded projects.

The position will be based in Glasgow.

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Approve externally-funded project scopes and deliverables in relation to the A&I team

  • Proactively identify and scope out A&I team modelling requirements based on broader A&I team requirements and objectives

  • Act as key reviewer for externally-funded milestones and deliverables

  • Proactively identify opportunities for presenting A&I team analysis to external and internal stakeholders

What do I need to qualify for this role?

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical, mathematical or scientific discipline, with a successful track record of doing a relevant role in a technical operating environment or experience of working in a management or strategic consultancy environment.  We are looking for someone who has strong financial & economic modelling skills (MS Excel model build and review), preferably with experience of the FAST standard or similar.  The ability to identify appropriate financial modelling structures for a wide range of issues and striking balance between standardised and bespoke models.  The successful candidate needs to have the ability to make rational and commercially biased decisions and will possess an innovative and creative way of thinking, demonstrable experience in problem solving and ability to deal with conflicting requirements together with knowledge of and experience working within the Renewable or Energy environment with appropriate financial background.
