The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.
With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.
What is the role?
Responsible for undertaking advanced and expert level trouble shooting, fault finding diagnosis, repair maintenance and reconditioning activities on a diverse range of machinery and electrical equipment/systems as well as undertaking planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
As an integral member of the Test and Validation Team, ensure troubleshooting, test rig operation, defect rectification and electrical maintenance work orders are carried out and recorded on the Pirana Asset Management System and the required standards and procedures are followed.
What are my key responsibilities?
Maximise plant availability through planned and preventative maintenance (PPM).
Able to provide and/or find pragmatic solutions to plant and equipment failure.
Operate, monitor and adjust electrical control systems to ensure optimum performance within guidelines and proceduresas well as electrical inspection and testing to assist in fault finding and coordinating specialized service contractors.
Responsible for leading the electrical maintenance technicians in conducting routine maintenance/fault-finding and associated record keeping of site facilities and electrical plant as necessary.
Ensure that SHEQ legislation and company policies are being complied with at all times.
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Work Authorisation System and all operational risks are minimised.
Ensure visitorsand contractorsare fullybriefed in all areasof operational requirements
Provide competent site cover for other members of staff as directed.
Propose and support renewal and improvements, future developments and efficiencies within the test facilities.
Complete ad-hoc duties relevant to the role under direction of line manager or their appointed deputy including the provision of cover across the site.
Support the Principal Electrical Renewable Asset Engineer where appropriate to populate and maintain design and project records relating to engineering
Support and promote Health & Safety, Environment & Quality as core business principles within an OHSAS 18001,IOSO1401,ISO9001,ISO17025 environment
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Educated to at least degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline
High Pressure Hydraulic installation and system operations
In addition to HV and MV electrical equipment and systems experience of working with SCADA, DAQ instrumentation, sensors and measuring equipment would be an advantage although not
