The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.


What is the role?

We are currently looking for an Electrical Test Technician  to provide technician support and planning, operating and installing all required elements of testing activities within Drivetrain and across all the site facilities. As a key member of the Test & Validation Team, you will ensure the accurate setup of test pieces, the required standards and procedures are adhered to and met when supporting equipment / systems within the facility and on site.


What are my key responsibilities?

  • Responsible for ensuring the setup of test pieces and supporting equipment/systems within the facility and on site, to the required standards

  • Assist the Test Engineer in the task required to deliver successful tests in the facilities

  • Guide and support the maintenance team in the operational and maintenance tasks required to deliver successful tests in the facilities

  • To support the development of equipment and operations to advance testing techniques and knowledge within the facilities

  • To guide and support the calibration of measurement systems within the facility to ensure correct loadings under test

  • To work with clients when seconded directly to a specific project or trial.


What do I need to qualify for this role?

You will be a minimum time-served Electrical Technician with current practical installation and maintenance experience with a minimum ONC in Electrical engineering or industry equivalent. You will have a valid forklift truck licence and overhead travelling crane certificate with knowledge of H&S practices and requirements including producing detailed risk assessments and method statements.
