Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting an ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL TESTING for the site in Blyth to increase our testing capacity for future projects.

The role will provide engineering direction to commercial projects and be responsible for completing project planning and application of process to a given test programme.   

What will I do?

  • Support the HV Lab Manager on delivering test regimes in accordance with relevant standards
  • Develop test methods to meet customer needs
  • Provide technical support to customers and collaborators
  • Plan and deliver projects to time, specification and budget
  • Adopt continuous improvement regimens to improve efficiency of work process and environment
  • Ensure set up of test pieces and supporting equipment/systems are to required standards
  • Draft technical test reports to customer's satisfaction, particularly electronic data
  • Ensure SHEQ management tasks are fully completed and all documentation is correct and relevant (risk assessments, work procedures, COSHH assessments etc)
  • Develop and implements plans and solutions for continuous improvement of lab facilities

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in engineering subject or equivalent experience
  • Computer literate, particularly MS Office suite
  • Working knowledge of PLC/SCADA code (Siemens/Allen Bradley/Mitsubishi), Diadem and LABView
  • Experience of working in OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 environments
  • Highly proficient in the use of electrical instrumentation and calibration required with a test lab
  • Ability to problem solve complex electrical test arrangements
  • Team player across multi-functional project teams
  • Capable of writing detailed technical reports and managing customer expectations
