Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is excited to be recruiting for an Engineering Manager for Floating Wind to be based within our Operational Performance directorate. We are the UK’s leading Technology, Innovation and Research Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy. Working alongside industry, supply chain and academia our team support the exploration of new technologies to transform outcomes for the development and operation of offshore renewable assets.

The Engineering Manager Floating Wind will be responsible for providing engineering leadership and inspiration to support, develop and deliver ORE Catapult’s goal of becoming, and remaining, a recognised centre of excellence in offshore renewable energy. 

As a key member of the team, you will ensure that development and delivery of projects, programmes and tests are underpinned by robust, expert and sustainable engineering processes, procedures and capability. You will also ensure that the team develop and align strategic technical capabilities to meet the needs of the industry, supply chain and project partners.

Tell me more about the position?

As an Engineering Manager within the Operational Performance Directorate you will manage a team of expert technical staff (engineers, scientists, researchers and analysts) to undertake delivery of R&D projects, programmes and commercial services. By working closely with the team you will ensure they are motivated, competent, and equipped to deliver high quality work within agreed time, scope and budget

You will provide technical leadership to the engineering teams, management and other colleagues on technical aspects of the offshore renewables sector, directly contributing to the delivery of projects as well as helping ORE Catapult and the industry shape future strategies.

You will provide strategic and commercial leadership by working with key stakeholders to maintain ORE Catapults presence as experts in the sector, and to further develop our capabilities to be world leading, leveraging expertise and work with colleagues to bring about game changing technologies, products,  services and collaborations for the industry.

What do I need to qualify for this role?

Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience in relevant industrial environment/s
  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
  • Sound technical knowledge of the offshore renewables industry or other relevant sectors
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Floating wind
  • Demonstrable experience in commercial and/or R&D environments or similar.
  • Demonstrable resource management experience
  • Motivated and strong team player – working individually, within and across multi-functional project teams.
  • Knowledge of and the application of good practice engineering design procedures and tools.
  • Familiarity with advanced specialist engineering software in an inter-disciplinary project setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of H&S legislation applicable to offshore operations.
  • Experience of working in OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 environments.
