Finance Assistant



The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, and regionally facilities in Hull, Levenmouth, Wales and Cornwall.  ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit

What is the role?

We are currently looking for a Finance Assistant who will be pivotal in providing an efficient financial processing capability within the organisation by providing day to day operational support to the Finance Team.  This role is based in Glasgow.


What are my key responsibilities?

  • Processing all Purchase Orders and Supplier Invoices accurately and on a timely basis

  • Reconciling supplier statements as received

  • Ensuring a weekly payment run to suppliers is undertaken and exporting payment details from Sage to Barclays Banking System for processing

  • Chasing outstanding balances and ensuring invoices are paid to agreed specification

  • Raising or responding to all queries in relation to sales/purchase ledger, either internally or externally

  • Open and amend supplier/customer accounts

  • Processing company credit card transactions, analysing VAT elements of individual transactions and ensuring appropriate receipts are obtained for all transactions

  • Review and approve expense claims with appropriate supervision


What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Experienced Purchase Ledger clerk, used to dealing with high volume of invoices

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Proficient in SAGE 200 Accounts would be desirable

  • Keen eye for attention to detail

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines

  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills

  • Team player, with confidence to work with colleagues across the organisations at various seniority levels
