General Manager – Wind Energy Benchmarking System (WEBS)
The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is the UK’s flagship technology innovation and research centre for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy. It is one of a network of Catapult centres set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK
With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.
What is the role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Manager to lead in the Wind Energy Bench markings System business (WEBS) part of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult to work in the Research and Disruptive Innovation directorate. ORE Catapult is a world leader in renewable generation performance and reliability benchmarking. In 2017, ORE Catapult joined forces with an established independent consultancy to create the WEBS Ltd joint venture with the clear goal of establish the WEBS platform as a global leader in onshore wind farm performance benchmarking. WEBS provides a platform for participants to better understand site and portfolio level wind farm performance in the context of the wider industry performance. The system benchmarks production, availability and subsystem reliability using specific design key performance indicators.
What are my key responsibilities?
Accountable to the Joint Venture board of the WEBS limited business and the Head of Projects
Work with the JV Board and partner companies to develop the business strategy for WEBS
Develop a delivery plan to execute the business strategy
Manage the day to day operations of WEBS Ltd
Lead on customer management for existing participants
Manage and execute coordinated business development activity across all customer groups
Management and coordination of other benchmarking proposals/projects as required
Consulting and collaborating on business planning and strategy development
Deliver a comprehensive business development strategy
Lead customer relationship management
Develop and follow up commercial terms and close contracts
Lead the stakeholder engagement to identify opportunities for product development
What do I need to qualify for this role?
A degree or equivalent in a science or engineering
Business or project management qualified or demonstrable experience
Experienced in negotiating and managing detailed commercial contracts
Experience in the renewable and specifically Onshore Wind sectors
