The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of 11 Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.
With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.
What is the role?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Innovation Manager to join the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult to work in the Research and Disruptive Innovation team to identify and support high growth UK companies that will bring innovative technology to the offshore wind sector. The position will be based in Glasgow.
What are my key responsibilities?
Identify and prioritise areas of emerging technology that have the potential to drive cost reduction in the offshore wind industry and contribute to UK economic growth.
Identify and engage with high grow SMEs and develop high quality collaborative projects in these priority areas
Work with Catapult engineering teams to ensure effective delivery of projects
Support SMEs and internal Catapult customers to commercialise new technologies
To support the ORE Catapult Senior Management in delivering their business plan objectives, technically, commercially and with vision
To identify and develop high quality projects and programmes through collaborations and funding applications that deliver a revenue stream and develop capability for the ORE Catapult
Assist with the development of written deliverables such as internal research and business plans, external technology foresight roadmaps and conference presentations
To identify and support development of commercialisation opportunities for ORE Catapult products and services
To ensure compliance with the governance processes of the ORE Catapult
To establish strong links with the ORE Catapult partners (industry and academic)
What do I need to qualify for this role?
A degree or equivalent in a science, engineering or business discipline
Strong ability in Maths, English and Sciences
Ideally a higher degree in business, management or related subject
An understanding of the Offshore Energy Sector
An understanding of public and private sector funding models
