The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.
With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.
What is the role?
To provide engineering and inspiration to support, develop and deliver ORE Catapults goal of becoming and remaining a recognised centre of excellence in offshore renewable energy
Accountable for managing the instrumentation and calibration requirements of the test facility assets, as well as client device testing and the subsequent analysis and reporting of resulting test data.
What are my key responsibilities?
Manage the instrumentation and calibration requirements within the facilities to ensure testing processes meet customer requirements and accreditation standards
Responsible for ensuring the setup of test pieces and supporting equipment/systems within the facility and on site are to the required standards
Provide instrumentation, data logging and data analysis skills as necessary to the commercial operations and research activities including, but not limited to, testing, design, development, tender preparation/evaluation, budget preparation/review and customer and supplier interface
Support the application of the test process to a given test and project plan to meeting customer expectations
Ensure design and project records relating to Instrumentation, calibration, test activities and project work are maintained in accordance with ORE Catapult processes and procedures
Develop and disseminate engineering knowledge to key stakeholders.
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Educated to at least degree level in a relevant discipline
Chartered Engineer or equivalent would be beneficial
Substantial experience of electrical, mechanical, electronic, instrumentation and data logging equipment
Knowledge of Scada/Diadem/LABview and Matlab would be preferable
Familiar with advanced instrumentation including strain gauges, load cells and accelerometers etc and associated engineering software in an inter-disciplinary project setting
