Junior Project Manager

Location: Glasgow

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, and regional facilities in Hull, Levenmouth, Wales and Cornwall.  ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

What is the role?

We are seeking a Junior Project Manager for our Research & Disruptive Innovation (RDI) Directorate.  The RDI Directorate develops and delivers the ORE Catapult’s most cutting edge projects, focusing on the new frontiers being pushed by sector.  As the project portfolio grows, the RDI team needs to expand to meet the demands.

The Junior Project Manager will support the Project Managers in the delivery of projects to meet the agreed budgets and timelines, as well as effective management of risks and quality assurance.  They will also work with the Project Management Office to ensure that project information is available and correct, to enable timely, accurate reporting of project performance across the directorate.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Supporting Project Managers to successfully deliver projects safely and to schedule, quality and cost in accordance with the partner needs and contract requirements

  • Ensuring that project activities are compliant with ORE Catapult’s project management processes and regulatory standards, processes and procedures.

  • Collating project information for regular internal and external project reporting and entering all project information into ORE Catapult’s project management reporting tools

  • Communicating project progress and issues to the R&DI Project Management Team

  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities during project conception and delivery

  • Ensuring all projects are closed out effectively, including all relevant and necessary documentation filed and stored appropriately


What do I need to qualify for this role?

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline, the successful candidate will possess project management training, which could be an introductory qualification, university modules or equivalent.  They must have demonstrable experience of managing project budgets and financial reporting experience, with at least 1 years’ industry experience within a technical sector such as energy, utilities or construction.
