Key Account Manager

Location:  Hull (Bridgehead Business Park, Hessle)

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, with regional facilities in Hull, Levenmouth, Wales and Cornwall.  ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

What is the role?

We are currently looking for a Key Account Manager within our Operational Performance Directorate, to develop and execute the account plans to facilitate collaboration with developers, owners and operators of offshore wind farms within the UK.

The successful candidate will promote ORE Catapult activity through a proactive, structured engagement with industry key players to identify potential collaborative and bilateral projects and programmes building and maintaining senior level strategic relationships with key clients in the UK.

What are the key responsibilities?

The Key Account Manager will;

  • Build and develop strong networks with senior stakeholders in the Key Accounts both regionally and within the sector. Ensure pipeline of projects in the KA’s to meet ongoing revenue delivery targets.

  • Deliver an oversight of strategic projects.

  • Support the ORE Catapult Operational Performance Directorate in delivering their business.

  • Plan objectives, technically, commercially and with vision.
  • Identify and develop high quality projects and programmes through collaborations and funding applications that deliver a funding stream and develop capability for the ORE Catapult.
  • Assist with the development of written deliverables such as internal research and business plans, external technology foresight roadmaps and conference presentations.
  • Identify and support development of commercialisation opportunities for ORE Catapult products and services.
  • Contribute to development of the business through improvements to innovation management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with the governance processes of the ORE Catapult.
  • Establish strong links with the ORE Catapult partners (industry and academic).

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering, business or other appropriate discipline.

  • Higher degree in business, management or related subject

  • Strong ability in Maths, English and Sciences.

  • An understanding of the Offshore Energy Sector and public and private sector funding models.

  • Consultative selling experience, preferably in the offshore wind industry

  • Data gathering skills through consultation, questionnaires and workshops.

  • Ability to collate, assess and analyse industry priorities and other data.

  • Excellent report writing skills for internal and external publication.

  • Confident presenting to wide range of audiences (conferences, working groups)

  • Experience of developing projects with multiple participants including work package definition and commercial terms.

  • Good stakeholder management skills and confidence working with Directors, Senior Management (internal & external) and consultants.

  • Influencing, negotiating, and communication skills.

  • The ability to look forward and anticipate problems and solve them.

  • Innovative and creative thinking and the ability to articulate this thinking.

  • Tenacity, persistence and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles.

  • Ability to work as a remote member of a team.
