What is the role?

ORE Catapult is pleased to be recruiting for a Procurement Apprentice to join our Professional Services Directorate. The role will be based in our Glasgow Office. As an apprentice in Procurement you will always be supervised with the expectation that you will be a competent Procurement Assistant within 2 years of the commencement of the Apprenticeship.

You will be required to assist in providing a professional, compliant procurement and supply chain management service to ensure maximum efficiency of resources and deliver best value for money through a range of procurement skills and techniques. We will support you in achieving pre-defined learning outcomes of the Modern Apprenticeship; you’ll learn and undertake various activities in the department, including purchasing, supply and logistics both in Glasgow and Blyth.

The scheme is designed for individuals who are living and entitled to work in the UK and are not in full-time education.

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Become familiar with ORE Catapult procurement and supply chain procedures and policies.
  • Assist in tendering and contract activities, including analysis of information and low level contract management.
  • Build and develop relationships with various stakeholders within the organisation across different sites.
  • Research & source suppliers for low value goods to ensure cost effective spending.
  • Assist with aspects of data management.
  • Respond to internal and external queries via phone, email and in person.
  • Support all aspects of procurement administration including monitoring and expediting purchase orders, tracking orders and invoices if and when required.
  • General clerical duties, including maintenance of filing systems & minute taking.
  • Contribute to the overall performance of the procurement department by achieving individual objectives.
  • To complete formal study towards SVQ 3 Procurement Qualification in year 1 and CIPS level 2 in year 2 (day release to college year 2 only).
  • Carry out other duties and participate in other learning opportunities appropriate to the role.

What do I need to qualify for this role?

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education at National Level 4 or above. The role requires a positive customer focused attitude and a willingness to learn.  You will complete formal study towards SVQ 3 Procurement Qualification & CIPS 2 as part of the apprenticeship. You’ll have good communications skills & telephone manner, be organised and able to plan / manage time effectively. To be successful in the role you’ll have the ability to multitask and be proactive whilst undertaking tasks, have good literacy, numeracy and practical skills along with good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
