The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of 11 Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit

What is the role?

As an apprentice in Procurement you will be supervised at all times with the expectation that you will be a competent junior procurement officer within 2 years of the commencement of the Apprenticeship. You will be required to assist in providing a professional, compliant procurement and supply chain management service to ensure maximum efficiency of resources and deliver best value for money through a range of procurement skills and techniques  to ensure that you achieve the pre-defined learning outcomes of the Modern Apprenticeship you will rotate across different activities of the department including purchasing, supply and logistics both in Glasgow and Blyth which will allow you to develop a range of procurement skills and techniques.

What might a typical day in this job look like?

           Become familiar with ORE Catapult procurement and supply chain procedures and policies.

•           Assist in tendering and contract activities, including analysis of information.

•           Research & source suppliers for low value goods to ensure cost effective spending.

•           Assist with aspects of Data Management.

•           Respond to internal and external queries via phone, email and in person.

•           Support all aspects of procurement administration including monitoring and expediting purchase orders, tracking orders and invoices, if and when             required.

•           General clerical duties, including maintenance of filing systems & minute taking, contribute to the overall performance of the procurement             department by achieving individual objectives.

•           To complete formal study towards SVQ 3 Procurement Qualification (day release to college).

•           Carry out other duties and participate in other learning opportunities appropriate to the role.


What qualifications or qualities are required?

•           Good standard of education at National Level 4 or above;

•           A positive customer focused attitude;

•           Willingness to learn – requirement to complete formal study towards SVQ 3 Procurement Qualification;

•           Good communications skills & telephone manner;

•           Good organisation / planning / time management skills;

•           Ability to multitask;

•           Good literacy, numeracy & practical skills;

•           Good computer skills particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook;
