Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is excited to be recruiting for a Procurement Specialist reporting into one of our Senior Procurement & Commercial Specialists.  The post forms part of our Professional Services Directorate, who deliver a specialist professional business support service to the organisation, ensuring good governance and financial management.  Functions with the Professional Services Directorate include procurement, HR, finance, legal, ICT and general office management services.

Tidal Stream Industry Energiser (TIGER) is a €45 million EU investment that aims to kick start 30MW of tidal stream turbine deployment, switch on new tidal sites and build a marine energy supply chain in the Channel region.  The Procurement Specialist will play a pivotal role acting as a procurement expert on specific projects within a range of public and private sector clients and collaborators, both in the UK and France, for the TIGER project. 

 

Tell me more about the position?

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, adaptable, commercially astute, and can prioritise and manage a busy and diverse workload, with some level of autonomy. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an innovative industry and an organisation that is growing in support of the offshore renewables industry, reducing costs, improving efficiency and reliability, and creating UK jobs.

You will be key in assisting in the delivery of this Interreg funded TIGER project, acting as a procurement expert and adhering rigidly to programme guidelines in order to avoid business exposure to litigation, clawback and reputational risk.  Therefore, demonstrable experience in delivering procurement activity, in full compliance with EU Procurement Directives and EU Treaty principles, is essential.

The successful candidate will have to build key relationships with all project partners from both UK and France, supporting their needs, and providing accurate advice and guidance to TIGER partners concerning procurement processes and procedures, in a timely manner.  You will also be required to assist and support on other more strategic tender projects, as is necessary.

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • A minimum of at least two A-levels Math & English Language (or international equivalent)
  • Possession of or studying towards a CIPS level 4 Diploma in procurement and supply (or equivalent) or has relevant demonstratable experience.  As part of the role, the employee will be expected to study for CIPS Level 4 Diploma, on completion of probationary period.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications including; Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint.
  • Proactive, well-organised with ability to prioritise and deliver a professional service to the broader TIGER project.
  • Ability to work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to assimilate and present detailed information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills.
  • Proficient and confident in the use of databases and spreadsheets including the ability to analyse and manipulate data.
  • Knowledge and experience of European grant funding projects.
  • Desirable:
  • Background and experience in working in the offshore renewables sector.
  • Fluency (able to write, read and speak) in both French would be an advantage
