Project Accountant - Glasgow

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

What is the role?

We are currently looking for a Project Accountant who will be accountable for monitoring the financial progress of projects, investigating variances and feeding outputs back to the directorate stakeholders and the finance team

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Review and challengeand track project financial plans

  • Attend directorate meetings where applicable in order to report on monthly project financial performance and to gain insight into project activity, challenge where appropriate and report back to the senior finance team

  • Assist the finance team with annual budgeting and the quarterly forecasting process through regular revision of project revenue and cost forecasts

  • Prepare staff utilisation reports and interpret the outputs which in turn enable the directorates and finance to make informed decisions on headcount

  • Maintain sage project accounting and set up new project codes.

  • Transfer project expenses from ODSL to OREC where applicable

  • Close out project accounts upon completion

  • Liaise with finance assistants to ensure revenue invoices are raised efficiently

  • Maintain appropriate records to aid the collation of annual R & D tax credit submission

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Qualified accountant (strong QBE candidate would be experienced)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Sage 200 experience highly desirable

  • Strong organisation skills and ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines

  • Team player with confidence to work with colleagues across the organisation at various seniority levels
