The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

 

What is the role?

We are currently looking for a Quality Engineer, who will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will be responsible for developing and implementing supplier quality processes to be used with ORE Catapult’s suppliers whilst maintaining internal quality processes.

Working closely with Project Managers and Engineers, the Quality Engineer will ensure all parts are correctly specified and suppliers manufacture and deliver in line with these specifications, developing any required goods in quality checks and create an efficient quarantine and release process.

The Quality Engineer will also be responsible for all internal standards and the delivery of external quality audits while maintaining ORE Catapults ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 17025 Certification.

 

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Working with Project teams/engineers to ensure all parts are correctly specified, with accurate and concise documentation

  • Provide technical assistance and support in developing supplier capabilities to ensure consistent quality of compliance

  • Monitoring and feedback on KPI’s with existing suppliers/contractors

  • Develop and implement appropriate systems and methodologies for monitoring supplier performance in line with business needs and expectations

  • Monitor and analyse supplier quality performance in conjunction with the Purchasing group to assess the effectiveness of the supplier quality systems to meet business requirements, providing periodic supplier appraisals and taking appropriate action where necessary

  • Maintain all ORE Catapult quality standards to maintain ISO certification

  • Monitoring and action ORE Catapult Quality KPI’s

  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required from time to time to deliver ORE Catapult objectives

  • Escalation to the Supply Chain Manager of any relevant issues.

     

What do I need to qualify for this role?

To succeed in this role, you must have a minimum of two years experience in a Quality role, preferably within an engineering or offshore environment and have an HND in Mechanical Engineering. CQI Practitioner as a minimum.

With a good working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 17025, you will be confident in leading external audits in addition to auditing Quality Management Systems. Commercial knowledge and a good understanding of the principles and frameworks of successful project management is also required as is excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

You must have strong relationship building, influencing, negotiating, and communication skills in addition to the ability to remain calm under pressure while managing daily priorities.
