Location: Merseyside based

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, and regionally facilities in Hull, Grimsby, Levenmouth, Wales, Lowestoft and Cornwall.  ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

We are now looking to recruit a Regional Partnership Manager who will be based in the Merseyside area and will cover the North West and North Wales cluster. Reporting into the Business Development Lead, you will be responsible for promoting ORE Catapult activity through proactive engagement with industry, in order to identify potential collaborative and bilateral projects and programmes. The role will be accountable for defining and delivering the concept phase of projects across the operational performance programme portfolio, through to concept status.

What is the role?

  • To promote ORE Catapult activity through proactive engagement with industry to identify potential collaborative and bilateral projects and programmes.

  • Develop and execute the regional plan.

  • Build and maintain senior level strategic relationships with key clients.

  • Working with the BD Lead to support O&M related activity across the UK.

  • Support delivery of O&M projects, with a particular reference to activity in the O&M centre of excellence.

  • Support the development of commercial products and services across the O&M area.

  • Work with the BD Lead to enhance the ORE Catapult’s O&M strategy

  • Work closely with industry partners to including Innogy, Orsted and Mersey Maritime to provide close support and represent the ORE Catapult within the OEA (Offshore Energy Alliance) as the cluster for the North West and North Wales.

  • Develop key evidence and analysis work to prioritise and shape new programmes.

  • Work with technology developers and academia to help create projects which will commercialise their technologies and secure investment.

  • Develop and build a strong network regionally, within the sector and X-Sector.

  • Ensure up to date sector knowledge, market trends and technical compliance.

  • The Regional Partnership Manager is responsible for defining and delivering the concept phase of projects across the operational performance programme portfolio, through to contract status.

  • Successful delivery of the Catapult’s regional engagement with the renewable and cross sector partners as well as academia, including development and execution of Collaboration Agreements, MOU’s and HoTs as required.

  • Identify and prioritise areas for innovation and cost reduction in the offshore wind operational performance that will contribute to UK economic growth.

  • Develop high quality projects and programmes in these priority areas.

  • Lead in-house analysis to assess the impact of cost reduction activity.

  • Provide support to our technology commercialisation programme, working with universities and innovators.

  • Structure the investment case for ORE Catapult support to projects and initiatives.

  • Develop new initiatives and lead analysis work to inform future activity

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • A degree or equivalent in an engineering, business or other appropriate discipline

  • Ideally, a higher degree in business, management or related subject.

  • Strong ability in Maths, English and Sciences.

  • Understanding of the Offshore Energy Sector

  • Understanding of public and private sector funding models

  • Data gathering skills through consultation, questionnaires and workshops

  • Ability to collate, assess and analyse industry priorities and other data

  • Excellent report writing skills for internal and external publication

  • Confident presenting to wide range of audiences (conferences, working groups)

  • Experience of developing projects with multiple participants including work package definition and commercial terms

  • Good stakeholder management skills and confidence working with Directors, Senior Management (internal & external) and consultants.

  • Influencing, negotiating, and communication skills.

  • The ability to look forward and anticipate problems and solve them.

  • Innovative and creative thinking and the ability to articulate this thinking

  • Tenacity, persistence and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles.
