Risk and Reporting Co-ordinator

Location: Glasgow

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is the UK’s flagship technology innovation and research centre for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy.  It is one of a network of Catapult centres set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit

What is the role?

The Risk and Reporting Coordinator will also play a leading and visible role in the risk management and business continuity processes.

This role will hold primary responsibility in the organisation for external reporting to key stakeholders, such as Innovate UK or other funding authorities – including performance against annual KPI’s.  This will include but is not limited to Innovate UK quarterly and annual reporting obligations

What are my key responsibilities?

  • Manage the corporate risk register and engage with each Directorate to ensure risks are captured and mitigating actions are in place

  • Corporate level analysis and interpretation of group reporting.Providing an objective assessment of data provided by individual Directorates

  • Develop and improve processes and procedures to provide consistent data sources for the purpose of information requests to the organisation

  • Ownership of the risk management process and reporting at a corporate level

  • Co-ordinating business continuity plans across the Directorates, engaging with plan owners to feed into a corporate level response

  • Co-ordination of EU funding compliance activities, including co-ordinating compliance audits involving key internal staff where necessary

  • Establishing processes for monitoring and tracking critical measurement data

Authority & Decisions

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of core KPI data capture and tracking processes, working with internal colleagues and external partners to maximise efficiency and accuracy

  • Accountable for identifying, and managing compliance obligations across the organisation (including funding compliance).

  • Working with internal colleagues to identify and mitigate risks, informing and embedding culture and collating reports on core grant activity

Experience and capability:

To succeed in the role the Risk and Reporting Co-ordinator must have and be able to demonstrate the following:-

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification.

  • Report writing and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of national and European government funding and output requirements.

  • Knowledge of the Business Planning process including the gathering of performance management data.

  • Ability to develop processes to direct consistency and simplification of business reporting across Directorates

  • Ability to interpret data, provide useful analysis and coordinate information to generate consolidated and concise outputs.

  • Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with Senior Management across the group.

  • Influencing, negotiating, and communication skills.

  • Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward, anticipating problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.

  • Innovative and creative thinking.

  • Problem solving – dealing with conflicting requirements.

  • Tenacity, persistence and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles.
