Do you want to work for the UK’s leading Technology, Innovation and Research Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy?

Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting a SENIOR R&D ENGINEER - ELECTRICAL CABLE SYSTEMS for the UK to focus on design and development of electrical cable systems for offshore wind applications.

The role will be a key member of the Electrical Research Team within the Research and Technical Capabilities Directorate

What will I do?

  • Design and develop electrical cable systems for offshore wind applications
  • Focus on solutions for fixed and floating foundations and the wider electrical infrastructure
  • Engage in a diverse mix of R&D activities in collaboration with other members of ORE Catapult
  • Work with leading technology developers, academics and industry end-users in the ORE sector
  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with key stakeholders both nationally and internationally
  • Produce high quality research and technical reports, publications and articles and use these in internal meetings and at world leading external events and conferences

What are we looking for?

  • Good knowledge of electrical cable systems e.g. balance of plant, export cables, submarine cable design and/or cable system solutions
  • Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience in R&D for industrial applications
  • Working knowledge and utilisation of OrcaFlex, Abaqus, Ansys, COSMOL Matlab/Simulink or equivalent
  • Somebody who is comfortable working in both a well-defined and more abstract environment
