The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is the UK’s leading technology innovation and research centre for offshore renewable energy.  We are delivering the UK’s largest clean growth opportunity by accelerating the creation and growth of UK companies in offshore renewable energy. Our unique facilities, research and engineering capabilities bring together industry and academia and drive innovation, focusing on three main areas: testing and validating offshore renewable energy technologies; research & innovation; improving the operational performance of the existing fleet of offshore renewable energy infrastructure.

What is the role?

ORE Catapult is excited to be recruiting for a Techno-Economic Analyst within our Research & Disruptive Innovation directorate. As part of the Analysis and Insights team you will be proactively supporting our (Tidal stream Industry enerGisEr pRoject) (TIGER).

The Tidal Stream Industry Energiser Project, known as TIGER, will install a range of tidal turbine schemes around the Channel in order to scale the manufacturing and supply chain for tidal energy technology. This project is partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund.

The focus of the position will be to support project colleagues in the reporting of cost and performance data. The role is expected to provide techno-economic modelling to underpin robust modelling structures and assumptions in the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. The information produced will provide comprehensive insight into our Wave & Tidal cost reduction reports for 2019 and beyond.

For this role it is essential that you are able to travel to TIGER project partners based in both the UK and France.

What are the key responsibilities?

The Techno-Economic Analyst will partner with project stakeholders providing perspective, insight, advice and guidance around the success drivers, operations and financials of the project.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to identify and develop new techno-economic models. The modelling produced and your collaboration with the Analysis and Insights Team will provide valuable enlightenment and understanding of the economic landscape within offshore renewables.

Partnering with internal and external stakeholders utilising their data sets, and, those of our partners, your role is crucial in supporting project progress and enabling the production of accurate and evolving reporting suites. Through team collaboration you’ll deliver appropriate assumptions and model structures which are fit for purpose and aligned with the task aims, activities and financial drivers.

What do I need to qualify for this role?

A degree in a technical, mathematical or scientific background.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills and necessitates the ability to relate, collaborate, problem solve, innovate and balance conflicting requirements across multiple geographies.

You will likely be joining us from a technically aspirated background, with the likelihood of having supported finance, operations, management or academia within a similar field.
