The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.
With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.
What is the role?
We are currently looking for a Test Engineer (Blades) who will ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the test process, from the arrival of a test piece/blade to final reporting with particular emphasis on the report, equipment, hardware and software availability. The position will be based in Blyth.
What are my key responsibilities?
Responsible for ensuring the setup of test piece/blade and supporting equipment/systems within the facility and on site, are to the required standards;
Responsible for the application of the test process to a given test and project plan to meet customer expectations;
Support technical discussions with clients regarding test methods and specifications;
Manage and review the calibration/modifications to control and instrumentation systems, specialist processes and networks to ensure correct test preparations;
Responsible for the creation of technical test reports to client’s satisfaction, in particular collation, analysis and presentation of electronic data;
Propose and support improvements, future development and efficiencies within the test facility and test processes;
Support the maintenance Team to ensure the test equipment QHSE requirements and standards prior and during the test processes;
Oversee, direct and guide staff including engineers and technicians in the support and delivery of the test process to meet project and business requirements;
Develop testing techniques in conjunction with clients, R&D projects and other test facilities worldwide;
Support the development and implementation of in house procedures and documentation as necessary;
What do I need to qualify for this role?
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the successful candidate will have extensive experience principally in the areas of either electrical/electronics, mechanical, hydraulic/structural loadings, instrumentation/data collection and control systems. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, leadership and development skills and be fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular excel with a working knowledge of SCADA, Diadem and LABview.
