Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting a TEST TECHNICIAN - ELECTRO MECHANICAL for the site in Blyth to ensure test programs are delivered to customer expectations and that we are continuously improving the work processes and environment.

The role will be an integral member of the team and will help to ensure the accurate setup of test pieces to the required standards and procedures of the site.

What will I do?

  • Carry out electrical checks on machinery and equipment
  • Operate in a HV test environment and be familiar with HV test techniques
  • Setup test pieces and supporting equipment/systems within the facilities to the required standard
  • Draft technical test reports to client's satisfaction, particularly electronic data
  • Ensure SHEQ management tasks and documentation are completed correctly and fully and are relevant to the task (e.g. Risk Assessment, work procedures, COSHH Assessments)
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement plans and solutions
  • Operate and troubleshoot mechanical pressurised systems, including cooling, lubrication, pneumatic and hydraulics
  • Actively support 5S activities in the workplace

What are we looking for?

  • Time-served Electro-Mechanical Technician with HND/HNC or equivalent
  • Good understanding of electrical principles and ability to carry out electrical checks
  • Good knowledge of electrical instrumentation
  • Strong knowledge and competence in mechanical pressurised systems
  • Experience of general handling of heavy machinery/plant
  • Relevant test experience in an HV environment
  • Training in lifting/slinging, including PUWER/LOLER regulations
  • Certified to operate Forklifts/Scissor Lifts/MEWPs
  • Computer literate, particularly MS Word and Excel
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and diagrams
  • Experience of producing risk assessments and method statements
  • Experience of working in ISO environments to recognised standards
