Trainee ICT Services Technician

Location:  Blyth

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (ORE Catapult) is one of a number of Catapults set up by Innovate UK to accelerate the deployment of innovative technology in the UK.

With primary locations in Glasgow and Blyth, Northumberland, ORE Catapult is working with industry and academia to identify, develop, prove and de-risk promising new technologies and bring them to market. It is helping to reduce the cost of offshore renewable energy, supporting the growth of the industry and creating UK benefit.

What is the role?

We are currently looking for a Trainee ICT Services Technician who will provide a technical and administrative support to both the ICT Team and the end user based to ensure all ICT systems are in good working order. This position is based at Blyth

What are my key responsibilities?

  • To create and manage existing user accounts stored with the ORE Catapult Active Directory and Office 365 systems

  • To manage and improve the use of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager

  • To deploy/manage new and existing laptops / workstations for use across the business

  • To deploy/manage new and existing mobile phones for use across the business

  • To maintain and support OCT systems used within meeting rooms

  • Provide end user support for queries relating to both ICT hardware and software

  • To support the use of video and teleconferencing facilities used across both sites

What do I need to qualify for this role?

  • Good standard of education; an IT related qualification would be beneficial

  • Knowledge of modern PC & laptop hardware

  • Natural ability to troubleshoot

  • Some experience in the installation and troubleshooting of the Microsoft Windows OS

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products

  • Conscientious with agood attention to detail

  • A proactive and flexible approach to overall workload

  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Team player

  • A customer focus approach, dealing with internal customers

  • Keen to learn and develop new skills
